A Softer Monday

Monday gets a bad name it does not fully deserve.
We treat it like a punishment, the end of something good, the start of the grind. We drag ourselves into it apologising. But Monday is only a beginning wearing a bad reputation.
I have started meeting mine differently. Not with a war cry and a list of forty things. Just gently. A slow coffee. One kind thing before the demands begin. A single intention instead of a mountain.
You do not have to conquer the week. You only have to begin it.
A daisy a child once handed me comes to mind. Held out with both hands, as if a small ordinary flower were a treasure. Maybe that is the trick with Mondays too. To hold the ordinary day out in front of you and decide, before it can tell you otherwise, that it might be a good one.
So here is your softer Monday. Begin slowly. Be kind to the version of you that is tired. The week will still get done and you will have liked yourself more while doing it.
